Biodiversity & Doing What's Right
Gordon Steele is a community leader taking direct action to reduce environmental harm.
Following a varied corporate career working in UK companies under stress or in rapid change, Gordon has returned to his original focus - the environment. He now chairs a small local charity that protects nature in the small island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands off the coast of France.
The Pollinator Project in Guernsey tries to make a practical difference to biodiversity by partnering with other community groups, schools, government and businesses and showing the way to reduce harm and make a positive difference.
Gordon and I worked together for several years. I was always struck by his strong commitment to ‘doing what's right’ - and to remembering to re-examine periodically what that actually means.
At that time, Gordon was on the Board at The Post Office - a high profile and important role - and I was able to witness the complexities of his work, how he found ways to juggle and meet numerous challenges, whilst simultaneously exploring his self-development and expansion as a leader and as a person.
Gordon has much wisdom that we could all learn from - leaders especially.
